The Southern Region Division One title race has entered a stage with zero margin for error — both at the top of the log and in the race for the Golden Boot.
Log leaders Hwange FC will be looking to bounce back immediately this weekend after their 2-0 Munhumutapa Cup exit at the hands of Premier League side Hunters FC.
They travel to Bulawayo on Saturday to face a tricky Khami FC at Khami Prisons, as they seek to maintain or extend their 3-point lead at the summit.
Hot on their heels, second-placed Talen Vision FC will be aiming to keep the pressure on. They are also in action on Saturday, away at Chiefs Village against Zimbabwe Saints.
The title chase is mirrored in the Golden Boot race. Hwange’s Justin Kaunda leads the way with 12 goals, while Talen Vision’s Gabriel Rugoho is in close pursuit with 10 goals.
The stakes will get even higher next Wednesday when the two title contenders go head-to-head, in a fixture that could go a long way in deciding the championship.
